Spring Side Inn, with its commanding view of the Mississippi River and the surrounding hills, is located on a hillside on the northern edge of Bellevue, Iowa. Named for the many springs which surround it, this house was built of native limestone in 1850. Spring Side is the only example of Gothic Revival Architecture in its classic form and setting in the Midwest; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Offering a blend of modern conveniences and the charm and warmth of the Victorian Age, Spring Side Inn has six guest rooms that are large and comfortable with queen size beds, private baths and river views. The Poe and Hawthorne Mini-Suites, located on the third floor, offer a very quiet, private area. These rooms feature large sitting areas and double whirlpools under skylights in their bathrooms.

The Twain Room was the original master bedroom and features an unsurpassed view of the river. Its bathroom has a double whirlpool with a window view overlooking the river to the north. The Melville Room has a sitting area with a gas log freestanding fireplace and is the perfect place to relax with a good book. The Alcott & Stowe Rooms with east facing windows are the best places in Spring Side to watch the sun rise over the Mississippi.

Spring Side Inn is the perfect setting for a honeymoon, a quiet celebration, or just a special time. Each day can be just what you want it to be--reading by the fireside, watching the river from the veranda, or wandering the forty acres of grounds.
