Meet Sharon Gammell, owner, chef, psychic and experience the romance of a bygone era in this charming Victorian Inn. Built in 1895 by Gus & Caroline Thayer and the Soo Line Rail Road. Thayer's Historic Bed N' Breakfast is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and offers guests the graciousness of yesterday with all the conveniences of today.

Completely renovated in 1985 and again in 1996 each of the 11 themed air-conditioned rooms is lovingly furnished with authentic antiques and handmade quilts. Every room has a private bath with old fashioned soaking claw-footed tub or single seascape whirlpool.

Food is definitely a main focus at Thayer's Historic Bed N' Breakfast. Sharon has 25 plus years in catering and restaurants and loves creative cooking. Depending on which package you select, stays are complemented with sumptuous gourmet dinners and breakfasts served in our elegant dining room. Thayer's dining room comfortably seats 50 for a sit down dinner and can easily accommodate 100 for a buffet. They can accommodate larger groups for outside functions.

Thayer's Cocktail Lounge is an intimate, relaxing, and friendly place. It reminds one of the small and cozy pubs in Europe boasting a fine selection of liquors. "After a busy day unwind with a cocktail, specialty beer, one of our 38 scotches, or Irish coffees, then enjoy a delightful dinner. After dinner relax in the hot tub and sauna."

Thayer's Historic Bed N' Breakfast is perfect for reunions, meetings, intimate weddings, honeymoons or simply the place to just "Get-A-Way"; with Comedy nights, Murder Mysteries, Fantasy & Honeymoon packages, Psychic Weekends, and reasonable prices. "At Thayer's we believe that your event should not be pre-packaged. That is why everything we do is custom designed to fit your individual expectations and wishes. We have access to professional musicians, entertianers, limo services, carriage rides, decorators, and charters. We enjoy creating a celebration that is unforgettable and remembered fondly by all those participating".

"Murder in Annandale" feature title in the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, February 15, 1998. Guess who they featured? You are right- Thayer's Historic Bed N' Breakfast. Here is a few quotes from Beth Gauper, Staff Columnist: "the Thayer hosts special events- last month, it was a 1940's musical review and "A Tribute to Elvis--It's also a B&B renowned for its enormous champagne breakfasts.---more mysteries planned, involving murderous hillbillies, Egyptian curses and cross-dressing knights. At the Thayer Inn, a weekend is a portal into a completely different frame of mind."

Everyone attending the Murder Mystery becomes a character. You may be the killer or you might just be killed! Thayer's has a collection of 25 different mysteries. These mysteries can have different suspects, characters, victims and murderers each time they are played out. You can join in the fun often and always be surprised! There are Murder Mystery Dinners every month. About 9 days prior to the Mystery we send information packets that include a full description of your character and costume suggestions. Yes, costumes are necessary because, they are half the FUN!! The Murder Mystery & Dinner lasts about 3 to 4 hours. Festivities begin at 6:30 pm with complimentary hors d'oeuvre's and cash bar. EVERYONE IS A SUSPECT!!

The cat you see is Kimmie Cat, a 19 year old Siamese who thinks he is "king" of Thayer. Not pictured is Cocoa Bear a Main Coon who is happy, friendly, and loves attention. Undoubtedly he will greet you as you come in the door.

Enjoy . . .

Satisfy your appetite . . . in the morning with a choice of a continental or full breakfast. Sharon will be happy to meet your special diet needs upon request or fix that gourmet meal that you can expect to be "A Grandiose Experience. . . Delicious, Decadent. . . .Wonderful!!".

Sharon Gammell is a self taught gourmet chef of 30 plus years. She has had 4 successful restaurants in the Twin Cities and over the years has catered to groups as small as 2 and as large as 1,500. Dining at Thayer's has become an event! The food style, taste and presentations are amazing. Gammell cooks without recipes and has an eye and imagination for delightful twists to tempt your palate. She can take the ordinary to new and extraordinary. Preferring traditional to trendy, her food takes on a comfortable and familiar persona, but don't be fooled, her food is not traditional.

Thayer's Historic Bed N' Breakfast is minutes from the Twin Cities and St. Cloud in the heart of the lakes region and no matter what the season, activity abounds. Enjoy winter and summer sports or parlor games, psychic readings (Sharon is a noted psychic), horseback riding, walking & antiquing.
