A quaint old world Czech community of 1,500 people, Wilber, Nebraska is the Czech Capital of the USA and is located in the scenic Big Blue River Valley is only 35 miles southwest of Lincoln. Hotel Wilber is an elegant, historic, unique 1895 two-story brick structure remodeled in 1991 into a twelve-room antique decor bed & breakfast and tree-shaded garden. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and has been featured in national publications.

Famous for its National Czech Festival the first full weekend in August, Wilber was featured in the travel section of the May 16, 1991 USA Today as one of the four Nebraska "I-80 Exits to Entertainment in America". The town of Wilber also offers year-around attractions such as the bakery, campgrounds, city parks, historic buildings, meat markets, and the Wilber Czech Museum. Things to do and see . . .In-town attractions include campgrounds, the library, museum, parks, and streets graced with historic buildings. Past visitors include suffragette Susan B. Anthony; novelist Willa Cather; presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft; and Hollywood movie star Robert Taylor. To the south only 30 minutes away in the Beatrice area are the Robert Taylor exhibit at the Gage County Museum and the Homestead National Monument. In the Fairbury area the Rock Creek Station Park and the business district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. To the northeast only 40 minutes away in Lincoln are the Nebraska State Capitol, one of the architectural wonders of the world; the Museum of Nebraska History; and the Haymarket. About 100 miles northwest in Grand Island, visit Stuhr Museum.
