Penny Farthing Inn

Vancouver, British Columbia

Enjoy warm hospitality and a scrumptious full breakfast at this 1912 Edwardian Heritage House located in the safe, vibrant Kitsilano district of Vancouver. Just 5 minutes from downtown and the University of British Columbia and only 6 blocks from the water, this B&B is very centrally located in an area know for its cafes, restaurants, boutiques and parks.

We have 2 rooms and 2 suites available (click on photo for larger view):

Abigail's is a totally private suite at the top of the house with brass queen bed, private bath with bath, shower and skylights, sitting room with sofa bed, TV/VCR, fridge, stereo with CD player, and lovely mountain and water views and is decorated in soft pastels.

Bettina's suite is on the second floor going across the back of the house with a pine four-poster queen bed, private bath with shower, sitting room with gas fireplace and sofa bed, TV & VCR, fridge, stereo with CD player, and a verandah overlooking the pretty English country garden with mountain views.

Sophie's bedroom has a pine four-poster double bed, pine amoire & porch overlooking the front garden with rattan furniture, and small private ensuite bathroom with shower. Shares a fridge with Lucinda's.

Lucinda's bedroom is our smallest room, has deep rose coloured walls, a brass king or twin bed, pine furniture and overlooks the front garden. Private bathroom with shower next door to the room and not accessed from the room.

We have a guest lounge with fireplace, stereo, and a large CD/tape collection as well as a TV/VCR complete with 150 videos. There is also a games table with a good selection of games, cards and jigsaw puzzles. Books abound throughout the house from novels to wonderful coffee table books on a variety of subjects. Guests are encouraged to curl up, on the sofa, in front of the fire with a good book and a cat snuggled by their side. The Butler's Pantry has an assortment of black, herbal, berry and green teas, coffee and cookies where the guests can help themselves during the day.

We serve excellent breakfasts which consist of freshly made breads, croissants, muffins or scones, jams and jellies, fresh fruit followed by a warm entree like blueberry yogurt waffles with fresh fruit, a fritatta with salsa, strawberry crepes, mushroom filled vol au vents or overstuffed omelets, in our dining room which overlooks the garden. In warm weather breakfast is served on our brick patio in the English country garden.

We have three very friendly cats to entertain you: Hendrix named after Jimi, Frisky who may play the piano for you as he has on TV, and Melody who can usually be found hiding from Hendrix on the mantlepiece behind the clock! They are not allowed in the guest rooms.
