Devonshire Inn a charming Victorian country house in a breathtaking
waterfront location. Initially built as the Wellington Foundry in the
1800's, the building underwent a dramatic transformation in the 1890's
to become one of the premier houses in this quiet lakeside town. Now,
an intimate country inn and restaurant, the Devonshire combines respect
for the past with all the modern comforts you'll need to make your stay
memorable.
The Devonshire
is situated on two acres of park like grounds, bordered by Lake Ontario
to the south and a spring fed stream to the west. The beach is pebbly,
and a great spot for an early morning cup of coffee or a quick dip.
We have three large lounges (two with fireplaces) and a spectacular
deck for guest use.
Guests can choose
from the following rooms:
Lane
Creek Blue Queen sized bed, private bath (regular
sized tub has Jacuzzi jets,), view of the lake and stream, main floor.
This is one of the closest rooms to Lake Ontario in Prince Edward
County.
Woodland
Queen sized bed, private bath with air jet hydra tub and shower,
main floor. A little larger that the Blue Room described above, with
a similar view.
Lane
Creek Waterfall Our newest and most elegant room.
Queen sized bed, private bath with 6 foot air jet Jacuzzi, private
balcony, and a lovely waterfall right outside the window.
Niles
Room Queen sized bed,
twin brass bed, private bath, two large, stained glass windows, main
floor. This is a fairly large room.
Old
Master Bedroom Queen sized bed, large bathroom with
shower stall and clawfoot tub. A nice view of the stream, second floor.
Rose
Room Queen bed, twin daybed, private bath with shower,
lovely old stained glass windows, quite roomy.
Sandbanks
Suite Two rooms with a shared bath on the third
floor, one room with a queen bed and one with two twins. Skylights
and sloped ceilings make for a romantic retreat.
Wellington, found
in Prince Edward County, is one of the best kept travel destination
secrets in Ontario. Along
with the rich history of the original Loyalist settlers, you'll find
great beaches at Sandbanks Provincial Park (noted as the largest sand
dune system in North America), wonderful food, antiques and galleries
galore, bird watching, scuba diving, and world class fishing.
