Welcome to The House on McGill, an intimate bed
and breakfast in the vibrant cosmopolitan heart of Toronto,
Canada.
Your hosts Dave, a Canuck and Adam, an Aussie are pleased to make your stay
as
comfortable
and enjoyable as possible! The House on McGill is a lovingly restored Victorian
townhouse circa 1894 located on a quiet residential street. We pride ourselves
in providing a tranquil, shady, safe retreat in the middle of all the bustle
of a busy metropolis. We have taken care to retain the existing woodwork, stained
glass windows, antique fixtures and character while adding all the modern amenities
in period reproductions to compliment the old. We are small and intimate with
our bedrooms sharing two baths, a guest only living room a kitchen/dining room
and a garden/deck.
We have six unique air conditioned bedrooms in varying styles:
The Blue Room
-- our largest room, has a fantastic view
of the skyscrapers of the financial district, oval stained glass window, four
poster queen canopy bed, Arts and Crafts style furniture, TV/VCR and a sunny
southern exposure.
The Green Room
-- a charming, quiet, shady room is located
in the middle of the house, with pine antiques and a queen size bed.
The Rose Room -- our coziest room with a sunny northern exposure, floral theme, and double bed is perfect for the budget traveller.
The Lilac
Room -- once the home's dining room, has a
high ceiling, cornice moldings, chandelier, TV/VCR king or twin beds as you
prefer and several antiques.
Our sunny Yellow
Room looks onto the back garden through a
glass door and window and offers a queen size bed.
The White Room at the front of the house has a queen bed, sitting area, TV/VCR and a sunny view of McGill street.
Our house is within walking
distance to the theatre district, shopping at the world-class 300 shop Eaton
Centre, the subway and numerous streetcar lines. Toronto, one of North America's
most vibrant cities, has lively ethnic and chic downtown neighbourhoods offering
interesting dining possibilities, exciting shopping and varied nightlife. Fast,
frequent and safe 24 hour transit crisscrosses the city. Maple Leaf Gardens
hockey arena, Ryerson University, the bustle of Yonge Street (Toronto's main
street), chic Yorkville, St. Lawrence Market, The University of Toronto, the
financial district, Royal Ontario Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario, the Church
Street Gay Village, Chinatown, Little Italy, Little India, Koreatown and so
much more are all near our quiet oasis in the heart of the city.
