estled
in the mountains four hours north of Mexico City, lies the quaint village
of San Miguel de Allende, a Spanish-colonial jewel designated an historic
monument by the Mexican government. With narrow cobblestone streets,
colorful markets and fiestas, numerous shops, mild climate, galleries
and fine restaurnats, San Miguel is a favorite destination for artists,
writers and discriminating
world travelers. Casa Luna B&B, a restored 18th century villa
with two-foot-thick walls and 20-foot-high ceilings, is an oasis in
the heart of town, just two blocks from the central plaza.
The villa has three
fountains, intimate patios, flower-filled courtyards and the Starlight
Lounge guest honor bar. The central courtyard, filled with plants and
flowers, is graced by an elegant fountain and large bougainvillea tree.
Guest rooms are luxurious and comfortable with fireplaces, featherbeds,
quilts and ceiling fans. In addition to the guest rooms, there is an
indoor/outdoor living room, dining room, breakfast room, kitchen, massage
room and several patios. Guest rooms have twin beds which convert to
kingsize and private bathrooms with tub and shower.
The Santos
Suite
located on the first level off the central courtyard. The suite
has a private library/living room filled with books, separate bedroom,
two fireplaces and private bath with tub and shower.
The Yellow
Room,
off inner courtyard, quiet and peaceful, with view of the fountain.
A traditional "ojo de buey" (oxen-eye round window) is set
high in the wall of the elegant-mirrored bathroom.
The Red
Room,
located on second level with high boveda ceiling and fireplace in
sitting area and romantic, fabric-draped canopy bed. Bathroom and
dressing area designed with wonderful tile.
Frida
Kahlo Blue Folk Art Room,
located on second level with private plantfilled patio. Colorful folkart
from throughout Mexico covers the walls. Large bathroom and separate
dressing room.
The Garden/Bath
Room,
on first level with private patio and 20-foot-high vaulted ceiling.
An elegant iron and fabric canopy bed faces the large fireplace. Wellknown
ceramic artist Capello crafted a beautiful sink.
The Calendar

first level with private patio and large tiled bathroom. The bedroom
walls are covered with antique Mexican calendars. Large iron and glass
doors open onto the private patio.
Escondido,

onto a lovely portale sitting area. An over-sized antique headboard
and curtained dressing area make for an elegant setting.
Boveda

bath and entrance. The bed is backed by an elegant handcarved headboard.
Cut tin fight fixtures cast romantic patterns on the ceilings.
