La Mancha
is located ten minutes outside downtown Cuernavaca within sight of Popocatepetl,
the monster volcano rising 5465 meters (17,930 feet) from the valley floor.
It is equidistant (a five minute walk) from two
the
zocolo (plaza) of a small and picturesque pueblo, La Mancha (even with its own
burro), captures the tranquility of small village life, while having proximity
to first class restaurants, museums, archeological sites, wonderful hiking,
mountain biking, and outward bound excursions.
Cuernavaca is an hour-long first class bus ride from the Mexico City airport (buses leave every hour. For those who fly, Cuernavaca has its own airport just ten minutes from La Mancha. For a slight additional fee, guests can be met at the Mexico City airport and driven directly to La Mancha.
Carol Hopkins, La Mancha's Innkeeper and a former master's division world champion triathlete, has developed a low impact exercise/diet program ideal for permanent life style change. For those who choose to enjoy the spa facilities there is a minimum regimen of early morning stretching, floor exercise, walking, aquajogging, and other water exercise. Daily massage and gourmet spa meals are included in the spa enrollment. Optional activities include: afternoon tours, classes in nutrition and cooking, and classes in Mexican culture or language.
Guests may choose between four large, beautifully designed and furnished bedrooms, each with its own private balcony and Talavera-tiled private bath. A lap pool, state of the art Jacuzzi, exercise equipment, mountain bikes, and wonderful common areas complement the beautiful gardens. Fax, computer and a fully equipped office are available to guests. Small groups will find La Mancha ideal for its individualized attention and intimacy.
With a reputation for being the "City of Eternal Spring" Cuernavaca (altitude 1542 meters/5000 feet), has a mild and pleasant climate, superb subtropical gardens and is famous for warm, sunny days, and slightly cooler nights. Though hotter (never uncomfortably so) in late spring (May), before the rainy season commences, even the rainy season (July-August) is Camelot-like; mostly raining after sunset and clearing by dawn. If you dream of the charm (and economy) of Italy's past, it still awaits you in Cuernavaca!
