La Casa de Maria

a Casa de Maria Bed and Breakfast in Oaxaca is a beautiful Mexican-styled home with two lush private garden courtyards. It is located a leisurely walk via the Tourist Corridor from the Historical Center and famous Zocalo, and near the main commercial zone in the area. The walk can be done in 10-15 minutes but may take much longer because of the many museums, churches, shops, galeries and restaurants along the way. There is also city bus service at the corner.

Each of the 18 comfortable guestrooms, bungalows and suites overlooking a garden courtyard has a desk area, large closet, ceiling fan, and private bath with shower. There are two bungalows of one bedroom with kitchenette. A delicious breakfast is served every morning in our dining room, open-air patio or in the gardens. Additional meals can be arranged if desired.

The city of Oaxaca is a splendorous colonial jewel with provincial atmosphere. Majestic temples and buildings make up its historical district. Several archaeological sites, such as Mitla and Monte Alban, are located in its surroundings, reminding us of a great past. The magnificent Santo Domingo de Guzman Cultural Center is the most wonderful in Latin America. Originally a 16th century Dominican convent, the complex now contains an ethnobotanical garden, museum and possibly the most beautiful rococo church in the world.

The culinary and cultural richness of the state can be found everywhere, where as its arts and crafts speak of the festivity of its people. Oaxaca with its mild weather and bright sun is a place you will fall in love with.
