reetings and welcome to the Alpenhorn, the finest bed & breakfast in the community of Big Bear Lake, California. The Inn's atmosphere is comparable to some of Europe's finest bed & breakfasts and small hotels. Situated on two heavily forested park-like acres midway between The Village and the Snow Summit Ski Area, the Alpenhorn Bed & Breakfast is now open with eight guestrooms. All have private baths with stall showers and separate spa tubs for two, fireplaces, private balconies, 25" televisions and VCRs, phones, spa robes, hair dryers, and king or queen beds (one can be converted to twin beds). We feature hypoallergenic feather beds on firm Sealy Posturepedic mattresses, and Aveda bath products. And to go with our TVs and VCRs, we offer an extensive video library that includes all of the Academy Award winners for Best Picture from 1939 to 2000.

The Alpenhorn serves a four-course gourmet breakfast. Breakfast consists of fresh breads, seasonal fruit, our homemade Alpine granola, house-blend coffee, fresh hot oatmeal brulee, and a hot dish such as coddled eggs, apple pancakes, or Robbie's cheese strata. Other amenities include full concierge and bell services, evening turndown service, and shuttle to Snow Summit ski resort.

The city of Big Bear Lake is an Alpine-like year-round recreation area with a full time population of about 6,000; however, on a good winter weekend, the population can swell to 100,000 or more. It is located at about 7,000 feet in the San Bernardino Mountains northeast of Los Angeles. It is a two and one-half hour drive from the Los Angeles International Airport, and a comfortable three-hour drive from San Diego, Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, and Palm Springs. The Big Bear Valley is known for its excellent day and night skiing, miles of hiking trails, mountain biking, horseback riding, gold-mining-boom-town history, fishing, boating, pristine air, and sparkling lake.
