ockledge
Country Inn opened in June, 1997 in the historic Rockledge manor
house, situated on 3.5 fenced and gated acres of stone terraces with
panoramic views of Pikes Peak, Cheyenne Mountain and the Front Range
foothills. The 20+ room two story, 9,000 square foot home was built
in 1912 of Manitou greenstone and stucco. A unique blending of English
Tudor country home and Western ranch, it was used as a summer retreat
by oil magnate M.F. Yount.
All guest rooms
are spacious and bright suites with king size featherbeds, entertainment
centers, some with fireplace and spa, all with good views. Common areas
include center entry living room with two story copper hooded stone
fireplace; main living room with 1875 Steinway grand piano, library
and parlor games; and the solarium and patio for enjoying the outdoors.
A multi course breakfast
is served; today it is fresh orange juice and strawberry smoothie, Rocky
Mountain trout quiche, oven crisped new potatoes and peach/raspberry/apple
cobbler. Colorado wines and hors d' oeuvres are offered each evening
and chocolates, fresh fruit and apple cookies are always at hand in
guest rooms or common areas. Mobil 3 and 4 star restaurants are a short
walk away.
