e
invite you to step back in time and enjoy the splendor of yesteryear
in this magnificent center chimney colonial listed on the National Historic Register.
The house was built by Deacon Timothy Pratt in 1746 and served as a
private school in the 1790's. Timothy Pratt was a carpenter and served
as a Deacon in the church across the street, thus it's present day name.
This charming home
boasts many fine original details. The guest rooms are romantically
furnished in period style featuring four poster
and canopy beds, working fireplaces, jacuzzi whirlpool tubs, private
baths, cable TV, stereo/CD players, comfortable reading chairs, phone
modem lines, and A/C. A formal candlelit breakfast is served in the
elegant fireplaced dining room on fine china. In winter, lounge by the
fire in the parlor, visit with friends, and enjoy complimentary sherry,
tea, and snacks. Guest refrigerator with complimentary soft drinks.
In summer, relax on our picturesque grounds with pretty gardens, inviting
sitting areas, a two-person rope hammock and a swing from a handsome
two century old maple tree.
We are conveniently
located in a New England style village in the heart of the historic
district on a pretty, gas-lit main street, within walking distance of
quaint Main Street shops, restaurants, cafés, coffee houses with
entertainment, theaters, churches, three spas, an ice skating pond,
the water and town green activities. Wonderful area for walking, biking,
and scenic drives. Next door to old-fashioned ice cream parlor, coffee
house and art gallery. Across the street from old museum and pillared
white church. One mile to Long Island Sound beaches, CT River and Long
Island Sound Cruises, two lighthouses, waterfront dining, waterfront
golf and miniature golf. Beach passes, maps, and advice provided! Bordered
on two sides by the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound, Old Saybrook
embodies the spirit of a charming, small New England town with a rich
seafaring tradition. We are just a short drive to Foxwoods and Mohegan
Sun Casino's, Clinton & Westbrook Factory Outlet Malls, Mystic Seaport
and Aquarium, Essex Steam Train and RiverBoat, Gillette Castle State
