Mansion House Bed and Breakfast

istoric Mansion House Bed & Breakfast and the Carriage House were built circa 1901 and remodeled in 1991-1992. In 1998, Mansion House expanded to include the mirror image house next door, "Kemphurst." Built circa 1904. They are built in Arts & Craft style architecture with high ceilings, crown moldings, and spacious rooms. The three structures surround a courtyard/garden/swimming pool area.

Our commitment to our guests is to provide them with a beautiful room, our personal attention to their needs, comfortable furnishings, outstanding amenities, and well-prepared, delicious food that will make their business or leisure stay with us memorable. Mansion House is written up in approximately 35 international B&B, tour, and inn books including an exclusive inn for St. Petersburg in the Michelin Guide, Frommer's Unofficial Guide to B&Bs of the South, and Fodor's.

Period stained-glass windows were retained and new windows added to give a decidedly old home comfort to the mansions. Entry into the main house from the porch provides guests with a beautiful and inviting British B&B atmosphere. The main house is done in warm peach, teal blue, vanilla, and white, and complimentary colors in wall coverings and bedding in each of the rooms provide a quiet, cool, crisp, and clean environment for the guests enjoyment. Bedrooms include hand-painted decorative art on furniture by resident artist, Marva Simpson. The floors in both houses are highly-glossed, soft Georgia pine with fine rugs throughout the houses and carriage house. Custom-made bed linens by Rosie and duvet covers, bedspreads, and other fine furnishings by Pat Berry, Assistant Innkeeper. Nothing is too fussy and everything works to make working after a long day in the office or relaxing pleasurable.

The houses have a half-dozen common areas between them and a patio outdoors with tables and umbrellas around the swimming pool and Courtyard. A library in both house serve as a gathering place for games, TV/video, or a getaway for writing letters and reading. The two-person Jacuzzi spa area is secluded and perfect for a couple celebrating a special occasion, wedding night, or honeymoon in the Carriage House. Two dining rooms which can seat up to 28 persons plus, offer perfect spots for group meetings. A conference room/work room is also available in MHII for small groups of up to 10-12.

An outdoor swimming pool and hot tub is located in the North end of the Courtyard on Fifth between the two houses provides guests with a beautiful, relaxing, and inviting place in which to kick back and enjoy the feeling of being pampered in the old southern tradition of great homes.

Guests enjoy a truly American hot breakfast prepared by the innkeepers with juicy blueberry pancakes, bananas & strawberry stuffed French toast, omelets, frittatas being specialties of the house. Home baked bread, cakes, cookies, and other delicious snacks are available to the guests at all times as are white and red wine, soft drinks, and other refreshments. Special diet meals can be prepared including liquid, diabetic, cholesterol and wheat-free diets.

Mansion House is a licensed restaurant and can provide catering for small gatherings of guests in both the main house and the Courtyard on Fifth. In addition, it provides destination wedding ceremonies and honeymoon packages and personalized boat cruises on the Aussie Spirit sport cruiser. Small parties can be accommodated for sit-down dinners in the two dining rooms in the main house as well as outdoors. MHII offers traditional living with cool, crisp, furnishings and decorations which have appeal to both business and leisure travelers.

• Twelve rooms with private baths, phone/data port, TV, private-label soap and shampoo, fresh flowers, fine linens, robes, radio, and cable TV. The house is non-smoking except in the Courtyard/garden and screened-porch areas.
• Common areas include the library/TV rooms with cable and VCR; 2-person Jacuzzi in private area; patio with umbrellas, tables, and chairs, a screened-in porch for smokers, a sun room, two dining rooms, and living room in the main house. Living room, sun porch, and conference room in MHII; swimming pool with spa in the Courtyard.
• Anniversary, wedding night packages including champagne and roses and private Jacuzzi tub with Carriage House.
• Children welcomed if accommodating rooms are available. Pets can be accommodated under very limited arrangements and in emergencies, but our dog and cats are very friendly and available for TLC.
• Open kitchen and dining room for guests' access 24 hours/day for complimentary soft drinks, wine, and snacks; stocked refrigerators in library and Carriage House.
• Personal requests are encouraged to make every guest's visit memorable and special.
  Optional lunch and dinner and/or catering for special occasions and meetings.
  
• Personalized day cruises aboard the Aussie Spirit are available for $75/hour. Week-long cruises can be arranged for one couple to be pampered by Rob and Rosie. Prices begin at $5,000 plus tax for two. Please call for details.
• Complimentary amenities provided for guests who have forgotten their razors, toothbrushes, shampoo, lotion, etc.
• Wedding ceremonies performed by Robert Ray, Notary Public; receptions, reunions, meetings, seminars, and other special occasions are welcomed.
