Rainforest Retreat

he Rainforest Retreat, located on the slopes of Kilauea Volcano, is a place to unwind from the hectic pace of life. The evening glow of the volcano can often be seen from the back porch of Ohia House. Pacific trade winds bring a gentle, warm breeze laden with tropical fragrance. The setting is peaceful and relaxing, off the beaten path, 30 minutes from downtown Hilo. At a 500 foot elevation on the slopes of Kilauea Volcano, temperatures are warm and balmy. Each unit is amidst a young Ohia forest and wild orchids.

We offer breakfast, provided in your refrigerator: We include Kona coffee, teas, juice, breads and muffins, and island fruits, and spreads

Your Hosts Lori and Mark offer a variety of experiences during your stay. Lori, a licensed acupuncturist, combines traditional Chinese medicine with Western knowledge to restore and invigorate the whole person. Mark, a licensed scuba instructor, will help you find the best dive sites on the island. Allow us to tailor your retreat to meet you vacation dreams.

Ohia House -- Spacious and airy, nestled among the treetops with open beam ceilings and large windows. Comfortably accommodates up to six people.

Orchid and Garden Studios -- Comfortable 400 square foot airy ground floor rooms. Both offer a kitchenette, king-sized bed, color TV, phone, and a full bath.
