Once upon a time, on Hawaii Island, far, far away, two little sisters played hide
and seek amongst the palm trees, and rolled in wheelbarrows down the lawn. They picked
posies in the cutting garden, and had tea parties with real china. Up and down the
grand staircase at the family manse they ran, humming along with Grandfather Clock
on the quarter hour. Evenings found
them in the veranda
rockers, or playing cards in the library with their Aunties after dinner. Sometimes
they played the same piano Hawaii's beloved queen, Liliuokalani, had played there,
fifty years earlier. Jack London and his wife Charmian had spent many a pleasant
hour there, too. So many happy times!
When the little girls grew up, they lived somewhere else. Their Aunties had passed
on, and the victorian house on the hill was very sad and neglected. It fell into
disrepair. One of the little girls told her sister the house was to be sold, so her
sister bought it and fixed it up, and now you, too, can have happy times at the beautiful
house on the hill, because now it is a bed and breakfast. Much of the original furniture
is still inside, and the little girl can tell you lots of stories that happened in
the house. You may tickle the same concert grand piano Her Majesty played nearly
a hundred years ago, or sleep under Jack London's headboard. The little girl will
serve you delicious island breakfasts with lots of tropical flavors, while you sit
and gaze out at sparkling Hilo Bay. To make your own special memories here, call
or email the little girl. She'll be happy to hear from you.
