Bed and Breakfast Inns of North Americas soon as you arrive at the Christian S. Stahly Olde Buffalo Inn Bed & Breakfast, you can tell your visit will be restful and peaceable. Set on two and half acres, the property is picturesque with its majestic 10,000 square foot red banked barn, red brick sidewalks, traditional windmill, all enclosed by a classic white wooden picket fence.

The history of the Inn extends over a 160 year period. Originally built in 1840 by a pioneer farmer, the house precedes the establishment of Nappanee in 1874. By the 20th century it had acquired the name "buffalo farm" during a time when the bison were characteristic of the area. The barn echoes with a history of its own as many of the surrounding Amish families once attended church here.

Today the original farmhouse still exists, after having endured restorations three decades ago to preserve its historical character. Also at that time, additional rooms were constructed to surround the original part of the house, thus providing the modern conveniences of today. Downstairs the original basement was transferred into a reproduction of a tavern in Williamaburg, Va. Enjoy the rustic ambience of the cellar or stroll amid nature on our open lawns. Play chess or the grand piano in our "common area". Come let yourself transcend back into a period in a historical atmosphere that will draw you back time and again.

Enjoy one of the house specialities for breakfast. "Stuffed French Toast", smothered with cream cheese and orange marmalade covered with powder sugar and cinnamon topped off with our local maple syrup. Gourmet coffee, orange juice, and a muffin freshly baked await you-a breakfast to die for.
