Bed and Breakfast Inns of North Americahe Aleksander House is a five bedroom, 3-story brick Victorian Italianate home built in 1882. It has been restored since than and converted into a bed and breakfast with 3 guest rooms and one two room suite. Listed in the National Registry of Historic Homes, the home features 12ft and 14 ft ceilings, original hardwood floors and moldings, stained glass, and five fireplaces. Aleksander House is conveniently located near Churchill Downs, the Airport, The Fair and Exposition Center, the Convention Center, I65, downtown, the University of Louisville and many fine restaurants and attractions.

The house offers spacious , comfortable rooms, private or shared modern baths and sumptuous full breakfasts. All dishes are prepared with the freshest ingredients daily and guests are encouraged to let the innkeeper know of any special dietary needs or concerns. Guest rooms are tastefully decorated in either eclectic or traditional furnishings and are located on the second or third floors. Amenities range from TV/VCR, two telephones, fax machine, and computer hook-up to air conditioning, a refrigerator, an exercise machine, a book-game-video library and a working fireplace.

The sitting room makes a wonderful place for a business meeting or a relaxing evening in front of the fire watching a good movie. Katharine's Room contains a wonderful four-poster queen rice bed with oriental rugs, red paisley curtains atop white lace pricillas, a cozy comforter with white lace duvet cover and traditional Cherry furnishings. Alek's Room is done in green and rose gingham, with quilts and comforters, a fireplace, comfortable wingback reading chair, and Oak furnishings, and Roxanne's Room is done in white wicker with Battenburg lace comforter, curtains, and dust ruffles. It has twin beds which can be converted into a king. All guest rooms have TV/VCRs, telephones, access to refrigerators, air conditioning and libraries.

Normal Cancellation Policy:
In case of cancellation, please notify us within 72 hours of the time of your arrival in order to avoid charges for one night's accommodation or 50% on stays of two night's or more.

Conventions and Major Events: In the case of conventions and major events, we require a deposit and at least two weeks notice of cancellation. If the room is rebooked, your deposit minus a 15% cancellation fee will be refunded.

Group Policy (Three or more Rooms): A deposit of 50% is required at the time of reservation. The balance is due no later than 14 days prior to time of arrival.

Children and pets welcome with some restrictions.
Smoke free environment inside. Smoking permitted outside on the deck.
No minimum stay except for the Kentucky Derby weekend,
The St. James Art Show, and major trade shows
