Bed and Breakfast Inns of North Americaoted “Inn of the Month” in Country Living Magazine (Sept 2005), and The New York Times Magazine states “Rosemark Haven in Bardstown, KY is a stylish place to stay.” (July 22, 2005). This gracious antebellum Southern home was skillfully restored with its breathtaking three-story oval spiral staircase, twelve and thirteen foot ceilings, wide plank yellow poplar and ash floors through out. Each of our rooms is appointed with antique furnishings, a private attached bathroom, chairs for relaxing, cable TV & DVD! Plus a fireplace adorns 4 of our guest rooms, and all but one has a king bed. This is the type of setting that inspired Stephen Foster to sing about his “Old Kentucky Home.” We now present you with Rosemark Haven, as your “Old Kentucky Home”.

In addition to 7 lovely guest rooms, there is also a café that is open for lunch, with outdoor seating on the patio weather permitting.  And, we serve gourmet dinners, by reservation only in the main dining room most evenings. Please visit our website for more information.

Our guestrooms include:

Bare-Rose Room — This room was named after former owners Leonard and Dorothy Bare, as it was their bedroom for 18 years. Several lovely antiques adorn the room. And there is a sitting area for reading or relaxing, this is a very romantic room!

Bartley Room — The Bartley Room (featured at the top of this page) is named after Cleo Bartley, who purchased the property in 1955. This is a very spacious, elegant, and romantic room with a period-style king size four-poster bed, fireplace, and beautiful antique walnut armoire.

Browne Room — The Browne Room is named after the original owners, Joseph and Ruth Browne. Located on the first floor of the haven, this 20’ by 20’ foot room embraces you with its king size, canopy bed as soon as you enter. This is one of our most spacious rooms. Inside, you will find an 1800's antique armoire and a fireplace. And, as with all of our guest rooms, there are several places to sit and relax and a private attached bathroom.

Federal House Suite — The completely restored original plantation home, or Federal House, is a two or three-room suite at Rosemark Haven. There is a private entrance, but you are only steps from the main mansion. Choose the spacious bedroom and living room for a perfect romantic weekend! Or, add on the spare bedroom for separate bedrooms in a private building of your own at Rosemark Haven!

Halstead Suite — This room is named after prominent attorney, Nat Halstead who was an early owner of the property. A dynamic room with its hand made rug and large window sitting area. The room measures 20' x 20'. A private bath with a Thermal-masseur tub and shower is attached to your room as well. This is probably our most luxurious room!

Muir Room — Named after Dr. James Muir, father-in-law to Nat Halstead, this room features a lot of light and a fireplace. Pictured above to the right, this room measures 9'x 13'. As with all of our rooms it is decorated with a king size bed and sitting area, so although cozy, this is a great room for your weekend getaway!

Stiles Suite — Climb the old, steep, slave staircase and enter the Stiles Suite with its lovely light décor (pictured toward the top right of this page). The bedroom has a wonderful king-size four-poster bed & fireplace. The down duvet and pillow library are sure to warm you right up. This suite occupies the entire second floor of the servant's quarters, which is attached to the main mansion but has a private entrance and parking!

Rates include a full breakfast. Our standard full breakfast is served in the dining room at 9:00 a.m., fresh coffee is generally available by 8:00 a.m.

Bardstown is Kentucky's second oldest city, dating back to 1780. Since that time when log, brick and stone homes rose from the wilds of western Virginia, Bardstown has welcomed travelers from around the world. For 225 years our southern hospitality, fine restaurants in historic surroundings and accommodations have made you feel right at home. Today, our eclectic shops combined with cultural and historical heritage make Bardstown a fantastic destination. We're home to "My Old Kentucky Home", "Stephen Foster - The Musical", vintage trains, distilleries; and museums dedicated to the Civil War, railroads and bourbon.

Additionally, there are over 30 annual events that draw people from around the globe to sample the spirits, sounds and flavors that are quintessentially Bardstown. In fact, Kentucky's Bourbon Trail, of which Bardstown is the heart, was featured in "1000 Places to See Before You Die", the New York Times best-seller by Patricia Schultz. There are many ways to experience the beauty of Bardstown. Combine fine dining with a view of the countryside on the Dinner Train, enjoy an intimate carriage ride through Historic Downtown or get a more in-depth tour on the trolley. Come let us welcome you home! Rosemark Haven is within.
