nug Hollow Farm is
nestled in the beautiful Red Lick Valley of Estill County in Central Kentucky
just 20 country miles east of Berea, Kentucky on HWY 594 and 50 miles from
Lexington. We are conveniently located about 45 mintues from Natural Bridge
State Park, Red River Gorge, Renfro Valley Music Hall. Snug Hollow Farm is
an organic farm
that
boasts 300 acres of babbling creeks, glorious wildflowers, abundant wildlife,
wooded mountainsides and the simplicity of country life both past and present.
The area is Appalachia at its best and a stay is an authentic experience in "holler
hospitality."
Accommodations consist of a spacious two story farmhouse with
3 comfortable bedrooms and private baths. The sitting room invites guests to
read a book by the fireplace, enjoy the panoramic views,
or simply daydream.
Spend a lazy afternoon sipping tea in the sun-dappled kitchen, browsing the
library loft or enjoying the charming sunroom. The roomy porches are a favorite
place to catch a cool breeze as you watch the wildlife by day or stars by night.
Perhaps you may enjoy the cozy chestnut log cabin with fantastic views, handmade
quilts and all the comforts of a genuine home in the mountains. You may be
lucky enough to nap to a rain on the tin roof.
A secluded Bed & Breakfast, Snug Hollow is described by many of its guests as
a safe environment in which to rest, relax and grow. It is a perfect place to
experience the unforgettable magic of things still wild and roaming. Whether
it is bird watching, lending a hand in the garden, stargazing, silent retreats
or a weekend vacation sitting in the sun by the pond, this snug little hollow
has a restful charm that may add a new dimension to your life.
We are known as
the perfect writer's retreat with many writers visiting us for inspiration. A
truly wonderful Kentucky Farm Bed and Breakfast!
THE COZY CABIN is a restored chestnut log cabin and is very comfortable
with a downstairs log living room/couches, writing desk and an upstairs bedroom
with two full beds, 2 single beds (handmade quilts and featherbeds), commode/basin
and a
great view. The tin roof makes even a rainy vacation special. The cabin
addition is a spacious sunny room with a partial kitchen, fridge, microwave,
teapot, coffeepot, blender & crock-pot. This room has a dining table and
a nice sunny sitting area with a great view of the farm and horses. There are
two single beds tucked in the corner by the windows, a futon couch (bed), and
a bath/shower.
The cozy cabin is furnished with comfortable, country furniture/books, radio,
and antiques. We don’t have air conditioning but the cabin has lots of
fans, shady windows and breezes. It has a deep, covered, private back porch.
The cabin is only about 50 feet from the main house but is very private. It
will sleep 7-9 comfortably with 2 sitting
areas for reunions or family vacations,
or is very cozy for one couple. Guests are welcome to enjoy the farmhouse
amenities as well.
THE FARMHOUSE offers southern comfort, with living room, dining room, sunroom, library, porches and actually the whole house is open to guests.
THE
PEARL is a spacious upstairs bedroom with a king bed and two singles.
It has a private bath and opens on to a large private porch in the trees that
overlooks the farm. We don’t have air conditioning but there are ceiling
fans, porches, window breezes and more fans.
THE SWEETIE is also upstairs with a queen bed and an adjoining room that has
3 singles. The “Sweetie” has a private bath and opens on to the
upstairs library. It has a wonderful view of the sunrise and mountains. The
farm is 300 acres of unspoiled beauty with
deer,
horses and wild turkeys. It is quiet, with lots of stars and a night sky.
We offer dinners of homemade soups, breads, salads and desserts by reservation. I am the cook, and we serve vegetarian fare with lots of our food grown on the farm. Sample: Homemade pizza, eggplant parmesan, vegetable pot pie, macaroni & cheese. Homemade breads and desserts are also a plus. Our breakfasts are yummy and may consist of either pancakes/gingered bananas, crunchy oatmeal-cornmeal waffles, smoked cheddar omelets, homemade biscuits & gravy, fresh fruit smoothies, coffee and tea.
