Walk three blocks to hip Frenchman Street - great restaurants, the hottest local jazz headliners, buy a coffee,  a book or a tattoo. Or stay in, order out, get a movie at the office and forget all that worrisome Monday-Friday timed chaos. You are on a New Orleans schedule - time and care forgotten.
There are such a huge variety of entertainment and sweet spots shaded by the hugging limbs of our live oaks that you will be glad you are out of the noise and green-less streets of the French Quarter. Although Bourbon Street is just five short blocks away, when you come back to our house, you are in a real neighborhood, not a twelve block long shopping mall. You want to go there, not necessarily stay there. For your convenience, we have a supermarket and drug store right across the street.
The Elysian Guest House has very large and spacious Studios and Suites. We feature a large hot tub, lush gardens and landscape. Each room has high ceilings, original hardwood floors, oriental rugs, and antique and reproduction furniture. Each Studio or Suite has a private entrance and bath with a full, double or king size bed. The suites have either a futon or sofa beds for third or fourth guest.
Our Rooms Include:
River Suite: Formal and antique touches echo the former use of this double parlor. A living room has an avenue entrance, queen sofa sleeper, recliner and entertainment center. The bedroom has a queen cornstalk four-poster bed which takes a little bit of climbing to get into. This room has a double lock door that can open into the Porch Suite for a combination that will sleep 8 people.
Porch Suite: The house's side porch provides the entrance into a living room with queen sofa sleeper, glass-topped dining/card table and chairs and a bright, cheerful decor. The bedroom has a king size iron bed.
Avenue Studio: The house's second side begins with a large room, also a former parlor, with an avenue entrance. The living area has a brass queen bed and a brass twin day bed. A kitchen alcove has a double sink, a full-size fridge, utensils and dining table area for four people.
Mid-City Studio: This large room is entered from the side of the house and sports a brand new bathroom. The living area has a queen bed and a twin sofa sleeper. There is a double lock door that can open into the Garden Suite for a combination which will sleep 7 people.
Garden Suite: Your entrance is from the garden deck, next to a semi-private outdoor social area. The living room is a former sun room with many windows, rattan furnishings and a full bed convertible. There is also an upright piano for the musically inclined. There is a bedroom with queen size bed, then a large full kitchen. All rooms have private exterior entrances with 24 hour access to rooms and garden area.
