The house is located at the edge of the woods, which are easily accessible. The country roads around the house are favored by Louisiana bicyclists. The entire area is rich in antebellum history and caters to travelers. Plantation homes and Civil War battlegrounds are available for tours, antique and gift-shops are plentiful, and restaurants are popular with tourists and locals. Paddle-wheelers on the Mississippi River stop at the St. Francisville landing and steam off with calliopes singing. Mardi Gras festivities are within a short drive's distance as are historic Natchez and Vicksburg homes and parks. New Orleans is an easy two hour drive away. Bird-watchers are drawn to our vastly diverse bird population and celebrate festivals throughout the year. In fact this is the area where John James Audubon created the majority of his bird paintings. He called this area his Happyland. Rooms are reasonably priced and comfortably furnished.
