Bed and Breakfast Inns of North Americaelcome to the Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast located on scenic Fort Hill in Eastham (Cape Cod), Massachusetts close to beaches, bike trails and nature walks, and just minutes away from Chatham, Orleans and Wellfleet. Designed in the Greek Revival style of the mid 1800s, the Sylvanus Knowles House is home to our small, sophisticated bed and breakfast, pairing modern amenities with historic charm. Our unique location, perched on a quiet knoll in the Cape Cod National Seashore overlooking Nauset Marsh, Coast Guard Beach and the Atlantic Ocean is acclaimed as the "jewel in the crown of the National Seashore." Join us to see why Yankee Magazine picked us as the 2004 Editor’s Choice for the outer Cape while The Boston Globe recently wrote "The Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast has the most prime location of any B&B on Cape Cod and it is one of the most beautiful."

The Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast provides guests with magnificent views, historic charm, and exceptional comfort. Uniquely set on three private acres of lawns and gardens removed from the bustle of everyday life, the setting is ideal for a quiet vacation, a weekend getaway, or as home base while exploring Cape Cod. The inn's three guest suites, two located in the historic wing of the main house (Emma, Lucille) and one very private cottage (Nantucket), are gracious and generously sized, and all rooms include a hearty country breakfast. Each suite/cottage is a private refuge, uniquely decorated to reflect the casually refined atmosphere of Cape Cod.

If you enjoy gracious accommodations with a touch of romance, the Emma suite is for you. Located on the first floor of the main house, this suite has been lovingly renovated to include modern amenities yet retains its original period details. Highlights of the Emma suite include a seperate, private library/sitting room with mahogony piano and oriental carpet, queen canopy bed, large private bath with soaking tub/shower and window seat.

If you are looking for historic charm with an eclectic mix of antiques and wrought iron ask for the Lucille Suite. Located on the second floor of the main house, this bright, airy suite includes a bedroom with queen bed, slanted eves, original wide pine floors, walk in closet, private hall/dressing room/bathroom with tub/shower.

Located a few steps from the main house, the spacious and very private honeymoon cottage, Nantucket, has it all. Pass through the private patio garden and enter the light-filled wet-bar area. A wainscotted bathroom with whimsically tiled shower stall, pedestal sink, and plush terry bathrobes await. Whether you are staying for a week or a few days, you will appreciate the spacious cathedral ceiling living room, boasting a gallery of original oil paintings by a local artist. Catch a breeze or gaze at the sea through the pair of 9' doors. If it's cool, close your shuttered windows and enjoy the warmth of your gas fireplace. Upstairs you will find the quintessential Cape Cod bedroom: white shutters, skylight, maple plank flooring and a Queen size white wrought iron sleigh bed perfectly highlighted by the blue and white bed linens. Enjoy a full breakfast in the main house or bring a tray to your private garden, the choice is yours.

In each of our special living rooms, whether it is your private library/sitting room or the common room, you will be treated to the finest in luxury, comfort and convenience. We encourage our guests to enjoy an early morning beverage in the guest living room with working fireplace, a perfect place to read, share a quiet conversation or leaf through a Cape Cod guide book, restaurant menus, local paper or area maps. A full country breakfast is prepared fresh each morning and includes such tasty treats as baked apples with raspberry-cider glaze, fresh fruit cup, cheesy-chive egg souffle, and Grand Marnier French toast. We surprise you each morning with a different homemade bread or muffin. These might include our special Sweet Jammie or oatmeal datenut muffins, or perhaps our buttermilk-current scones, hot from the oven.
