uests have described Shingle
Hill Bed and Breakfast as "idyllic". Located in the quaint New England
village of Haydenville, just six miles west of downtown Northampton,
in the heart of the
Pioneer Valley and the Five College Area. The land the Shingle Hill
was built on once served as summer pasture land for a nearby dairy farm.
Today, the house that sits atop Shingle Hill hosts a spectacular view
of MT Tom, the highest point in Hampshire County. Designed to accommodate
the magnificent southern exposure, this three story Dutch Gambrel House
has bed and breakfast rooms on the second and third level, complete
with separate guest entrance and kitchen area. A beautiful, slate and
brick hearth provides the centerpiece for the rustic, yet comfortable
common area, complete with enclosed deck.
There are fours
beautifully appointed guestrooms to choose from, each with private bath,
AC, television, and telephone. The Country Garden two-room suite features
a queen bed, and private bath. The adjacent
private sitting room readily converts into a second bedroom when necessary.
With a view into the woods, guests often awake to catch a glimpse of
our goats browsing in the pines! The Peacock Room features a very
comfortable king-size bed, elegant chaise lounge, antique dressing screen
and private bath. Dramatic, yet quiet and private. Perfect for a romantic
getaway! The Dogwood Suite is our most versatile guestroom. It features
a choice of king or twin beds and private bath. The adjacent sitting
room converts easily to accommodate an extra person. Ideal for college
tours.
On
frosty mornings, early risers can watch MT Tom as it rises out of the
mist. Enjoy the mountain view from the privacy of your own deck while
staying in the MT Tom Room. Named after the highest peak in Hampshire
County, this beautifully restored "tackroom" captures the rustic charm
of western Massachusetts. It has queen bed and in-room private bath.
Many amenities are provided at no extra charge: 100% cotton sheets,
down comforters, terrycloth robes, extra towels, and complimentary chocolates.
Coffee and tea is available with homemade cookies, any time.
