Bed and Breakfast Inns of North Americahe Robert Morris Inn, dating back to 1710 is one of the oldest historic inns in the United States. Robert Morris, Jr. helped finance the Revolutionary War, numbered George Washington among his friends, and was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Robert Morris InnConfederation, and the United States Constitution. The Main Inn and Lodge are situated next to the Tred Avon River (off the Chesapeake Bay) in the colonial village of Oxford, Maryland. We are only 6 miles from St. Michaels, 10 miles from Easton and Cambridge, and 20 miles from Tilghman Island.

The water bound village of Oxford was once Maryland's largest port of call, and it is still an important center for boat building and yachting. Oxford is a protected harbor for the watermen who harvest oysters, crabs, clams and fish, and for sailors from all over the Bay.

The Inn crowns the north end of Morris Street. Additional accommodations are offered at the Inn's Sandaway Lodge located one-half block away, on two acres of waterfront property complete with private beach. Guests may choose to stay in one of the quaint Inn rooms or in the Sandaway, where many rooms have Robert Morris Innprivate porches overlooking the water . All guest rooms have private baths and are decorated with comfortable country furnishings.

For the ultimate Chesapeake experience ask for Sandaway Suite. Your first floor bedroom with a canopy king bed, soaking tub for two, and side porch is located at Sandaway Lodge. Your separate sitting room is located on the beach with views of the river in 3 directions. Great sunsets!
