Crosstrees provides casually elegant lodging in a Federal Home, built in Kennebunkport in 1818 by the Daniel Walker family. The Walker family was one of the first four families in Kennebunkport.
The House's history was enriched by the well known Maine Artist and Architect, Abbott Graves, who purchased it in 1895. He gave the house its' name of "Crosstrees" for the husband and wife maple trees planted on either side of the front door. Today only one of the maples remains, shading the house in summer and bursting with brilliant colors in the fall.
Crosstrees houses four romantic guest rooms, each with private bath. Three of the rooms have fireplaces. One of those has an additional sitting area as well as a two person whirlpool tub. The inn has king and queen accommodations. Full gourmet breakfasts are served in the dining room each morning and afternoon refreshments are served in the living room or outside on the deck overlooking the gardens.
The property is ideally located in the historic district of Kennebunkport. It is within walking distance of Dock Square which houses excellent restaurants and shopping. The inn is also within walking distance of one of Kennebunkport's beaches and close to others. Until recently operated as the Kylemere House, the Inn has undergone remodeling. Come and experience Crosstrees' warmth and charm!
