ira Monte Inn & Suites is ideally located in the downtown village of Bar Harbor, just an easy five minute walk from the shops, restaurants and the waterfront (which is open to the public by means of the 1/2 mile shore path). Yet its two acres of beautifully landscaped grounds provide a quiet, serene oasis where you can relax at the foot of a sweeping lawn, or in a secret, quiet retreat under the chestnut tree -- or stroll through two formal gardens, perhaps stopping to meditate on the delightful "smiling bench". The thirteen rooms and three suites offer a distinct choice of decor, amenities, and price. All have private baths -- seven with double whirlpools; fourteen have fireplaces; fourteen have private balconies overlooking the grounds. Each room has a unique decor -- having been named for one of the old hotels that used to greet Bar Harbor's early, wealthy summer visitors. Each has modern amenities as well: TV, phone with answering machine, data port, hair dryer, iron/board, A/C, and individual heat control. Some also have a VCR. The suites have kitchenettes. There is ample, lighted, off-street parking. There is covered, secure bike storage available.

Breakfast is a friendly, happy time at Mira Monte; there is a generous delicious buffet offering a wide variety of house-prepared food including eggs, baked goods, fruit, hot and cold cereal, waffles, special entrees, fruit, juices, coffee, and tea. You may choose a tea pot from Marian's collection displayed on the fireplace mantel. It is important to note, that you are in charge of your breakfast. You may eat from 8-10 AM -- earlier with notice; you may take a tray to the delightful breakfast porch by the fireplace, or to one of two lovely terraces overlooking the gardens, to your own balcony or porch, or to the secret space under the chestnut tree or to a table on the lawn, or you may eat, family style, in the formal dining room. A knowledgeable staff member is always available to help you with the day's activities or just to chat. You may join a staff member at the afternoon innkeepers social in the parlor each afternoon from 5 to 7. Refreshments are served, and help is provided for choosing a restaurant.

Mira Monte is a popular place for vacationers of all ages or for an executive retreat. It is also a choice place for those celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, birthday or other special event. The staff is pleased to place a flower arrangement in the room for arrival.

Packages are offered for early spring vacations, and for late fall. Honeymoon packages are offered from June 5th to October 5th.
