oday,
The White House is often called "the most
photographed historic home in New England", evidencing
that it still holds all the grandeur that was intended
160 years ago. The
White House as registered on the National register of
Historic Places with sweeping views of its triangular
shaped park-like grounds, botanical gardens and
historic gazebo (the only gazebo listed on the National
Register of Historic Places) instill a sense of peace
and tranquility.
Stepping into an era of understated elegance and
privacy, The White House is located at "the foot of the
square" beginning the Belfast historic district and
affording an easy three block walk to the sea coast and
five blocks to our unspoiled historic town
centre.
Upon entering
the Inn you experience the graciousness and privacy
reminiscent of that 160 year ago by-gone era. Striking
interior architectural details abound. Admire the
craftsmanship of the imported marble fireplaces,
intricate thick plaster ceiling
medallions, cornices and stunning antique and
reproduction furnishings.
The White House
is the first Inn in Belfast to be licensed by the city
to allow its facilities to be used to host weddings,
receptions, reunions and other functions. One innkeeper
is also commissioned by the state to officiate wedding
ceremonies.
Six
spacious guest chambers (some suites) all with private
baths provide scenic views (some water views) many have
canopy beds, setting rooms, TV/VCR, Jacuzzi tubs and
all with in-room phones.
Our formal
parlor, music parlor, library and dining room allow for
various intimate settings.
Abundant
activities are available in and around Belfast.
Participate in winter sports including snowshoeing,
sledding, ice skating, ice fishing, cross-country
skiing and ice fishing. Water sport may

abundant collection of varied architectural styled
buildings, our historic town center, art galleries and
museum. Sport away to partake in bike rentals,
horseback riding tennis and golf. Farmers markets,
movie cinemas, theatre, craft and antique shops dot the
area. Other modes of transport could include boat
