Only 55 miles North of Boston, The York Harbor Inn offers a retreat from the rigors of metropolitan life. Come experience it for yourself. This century-old, air-conditioned inn has breathtaking, cinematic vistas and is located on the water next to beautiful York Harbor along the picturesque, rocky coast of southern Maine. Nestled in the historic and prestigous Harbor Village area, the inn stands as a warm and restful sentinel. At dusk, lights twinkling through hundreds of small panes of glass establish an open invitation and welcome to visitors.

As its centerpiece, this immaculate inn has a moved and re-assembled, circa 1637 greatroom - a former fisherman's cabin from the Isles of Shoals located 8 miles off the coast. This warm and historic structure, with its massive field stone fireplace, oriental rugs and comfortable sofas, serves as a reading/gathering or parlor sitting room.

The 40 guest rooms are filled with Colonial era antique reproductions and artifacts. Imagine use of floor coverings, wallpaper and fabric creates the perfect backdrop for many 4-poster beds, paintings, and appropriate finishing touches. Nooks and crannies or unusual roof angles abound, and working fireplaces, clock radios, irons and ironing boards, classic linens and toiletries, telephones and televisions, and Jacuzzi Spas are but a few of the in-room amenities. Many rooms offer ocean views, some with ocean view decks.

Truly a "neighborhood business", the York Harbor Inn is bordered by local art galleries, craftsmen, antique shops and other one-of-a-kind discoveries. A very short walk takes you to a protected beach. A leisurely stroll along Marginal Way reveals hidden coastal scenes and fine properites - surrounded by Maine's rugged shoreling and beautiful geography.

Whether you choose to dress for dinner is up to you, but leave the award-winning cuisine to the culinary staff at the inn. In a region known for its superb restaurants, every one of the inn's three chefs has been singled out for excellence. Yet its oceanview dining room, retains its casual, elegant air.

And tucked away in the lower level - a former horse stable - is the authentic English style "Wine Cellar Pub" where guests can mix with locals and on weekends enjoy live music. Breakfast is a relaxed, serve yourself affair consisting of a variety of cereals, fruits, fresh baked muffins and pastries, juice, and a selection of yogurts, topped off with a fresh brewed coffe and herbal teas.

The York Harbor Inn is an undiscovered jewel on the coast of Maine.
