The area around Spring Valley is known as Southern Minnesota Bluff Country, and is an area of Karst topography of limestone bedrock with caves, sinkholes, and bluffs covered with hardwood forest. Beautiful streams full of trout and bass are found throughout the area.

Directions: When arriving from the north on highway 16 and 63 watch for the sign to the "Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum", go 600 feet south and we are on the right. From William Strong House it is 15 miles to the head of the Root River Trail. This is a blacktop trail for biking, hiking, walking, or rollerbladeing It is 12 miles to Forestville State Park with its system of trails, trout streams, and Mystery Cave. It is possible to tour areas of Amish farmers and purchase some of their baked goods, quilts and other merchandise.
