perfect
blend of old and new, Herren House combines the "period"
charm of an Elegantly restored, historically significant home with modern
comforts and ample space. While most guest lodges have been converted
from private residences, Herren House
was originally built as a boarding house and has accommodated the public
for a century. Herren House is a unique 19th-century guest lodge which
has been completely restored and refurbished to combine gracious Victorian
decor and vintage antique furnishings with the most modern of amenities,
including central air conditioning. Six spacious guest rooms, one equipped
for wheelchair accommodation, meet any taste, need or fancy. Each room
has its own sitting area and private bathroom. All offer distinctive
touches like original works of art and stunning quilts.
The gardens are
a bouquet of seasonal colors and herbal fragrances. Sprawling wrap-around
porches and latticed garden shelters offer quiet evening relaxation
or a shady
respite from the day's activities. Wile away a summer afternoon with
a cool drink and piped in music in the gazebo.
You can't have a
great B&B without a great breakfast. At Herren House breakfast is
exceptional, complete with music, casual conversation and candlelight.
Enjoy seasonal fruit with orange maple sauce, herb baked eggs, gingery
pancakes, apricot scones and pineapple muffins, along with the house
specialty, homemade chicken sausage. Afternoon refreshments might include
chocolate delectables, homemade teacakes, nut breads, cookies and fresh
ground coffee or peach tea.
