he Red Rocker Inn was voted as "One of the Top 25 Bed and Breakfasts/Country Inns Nationwide" by Arrington's Bed and Breakfast Journal 2002. Additionally The Asheville Citizen-Times named it as the BEST Bed and Breakfast in Asheville, Black Mountain and All of Western North Carolina for 2000 and 2001. And, most recently, the Atlanta Journal/Constitution named the Red Rocker as "One of our Top 12 Favorite Inns of the Southeast". The Red Rocker is a meticulously restored Inn located in a friendly mountain town nestled just off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, only 15 minutes east of Asheville, North Carolina.

Each of our 17 elegant guest rooms has its own private bath. All are centrally air-conditioned. Some rooms have fireplaces, some have whirlpool tubs, and all have a special ambiance unique to this wonderful inn. Guests who visit the Red Rocker usually come in two varieties, those who stay often and those who are here for the first time. For those who come time after time, their agenda is often just rest and relaxation. They might walk to town, a short three blocks away along tree lined residential streets. There, they stroll through the numerous upscale gift shops, galleries and Appalachian-style craft stores with unique local craftsmen demonstrating iron works, wood bowl turning and hand thrown pottery. They might spend an hour exploring the old fashioned general store with its 35,000 items of inventory. And finally, they'll take a break outside the corner ice cream parlor with a hand-dipped cone.

Afternoons are commonly spent on one of the dozen red rocking chairs that line the Inn's front porch. With complimentary beverages and homemade cookies available every afternoon, most folks are happy with a good book, new friends, sweet tea and one of our famous hand-dipped chocolate macaroons.

After a wonderful dinner at the Inn, guest often schedule a "digestive" walk around beautiful Lake Tomahawk, a short three blocks away. The lake has a lighted walking path with the only noise a couple might encounter being the quacking of the spoiled ducks demanding a treat from the grain bin.

For the first time visitor, there's a bonanza of things to do. From a visit to the historic Biltmore Estate, an enchanting trip to Chimney Rock, a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, golf on some of the most spectacular courses in the South, a hike or mountain bike ride on secluded mountain trails, a swim at Sliding rock, or a train ride through yesterday on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, there is enough to fill a week and more for both couples and families.
