The five charmingly decorated bedrooms in our colonial farmstead create a cozy, romantic atmosphere. The softly lit bedrooms have fireplaces, wide pine floors, comfortable queen or twin beds and locally collected antiques. Rooms with private baths are available. The living room with its exposed hand-hewn beams offers you the opportunity to gather and meet other guests, plan your day's activities, or just relax and read a book from our library shelves. In the dinning room you will enjoy a family-style, 3 course New England country breakfast that includes choice of eggs, muffins, pancakes or french toast, accompanied by juice, fruit, granola, locally produced maple syrup, homemade jams and specialty coffees and teas. Your friendly hosts and innkeepers, Darcy Bacall and Priscilla Hardy, are eager to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. You will be greeted by one of us, shown your room and offered tea. We can help you map out your itineraries for sight-seeing, shopping, sporting activities, dinning, or finding out-of-the way places. We are dedicated to making our B & B a place where our guests feel welcome, relaxed, comfortable, and able to unwind from their busy lives. We provide clean rooms and delicious homemade food. We devote a portion of our talents to social and community causes. We strive to bring people and cultures around the world together. The Monadnock region is filled with a wide variety of activities and breathtaking scenery year round. For outdoor enthusiasts there are many recreational opportunities nearby including: bicycling; golfing ( 8 regional courses); hiking (Mount Monadnock is the single most climbed mountain in North America); kayaking; fishing and cross country skiing. Scenic tours of the region in the foliage season are some of the most spectacular in New England. Historic covered bridges and state parks are a short trip away. For those who enjoy shopping, local merchants in nearby Keene and Peterborough offer an eclectic selection of handmade crafts, antiques, gifts, maple syrup and clothing. The region is also rich in art galleries, museums, theater, concerts and historic colonial villages. For summer and fall relaxation, take a walk around the homestead; sit by, swim or fish in bubbling Otter Brook; stroll along country roads and ponds; or lie in our field of wildflowers. For those who enjoy cultural events, the Monadnock Music Concerts, Apple Hill Chamber Music and the Peterborough Players are among local favorites. For those who enjoy fresh fruit, local farms offer the opportunity to pick strawberries, blueberries and apples, In the winter enjoy winter sports, shopping, and the warm comfort of the farmhouse to unwind.
