An American classic, 1/2 block from the beach, on a quiet street
in the primary Historic District, is the John Wesley Inn. This Carpenter Gothic
structure was one of the original Stockton Row Cottages, built as part of
the
Stockton Hotel in 1869. The 300 plus room hotel was demolished in 1911, but
the "cottages" live
on to tell the tale.
In 1983 the Tice Family purchased the house and completely restored
it. They researched every detail from the Victorian Garden to the Acroteria
before returning it to its original beauty and grandeur. Purchased by the Pontins
in 2005, the John Wesley Inn Bed and Breakfast continues to be one of the finest
examples of true Victorian restoration anywhere. There are 7 rooms with private
baths. All rooms have TV's, individually controlled AC, and a personal safe.
Each room includes on site parking which can be a problem in tiny Cape May.
Several rooms have fireplaces. There is a large sun room featuring a complete
wet bar and several sitting areas.
A homemade hot breakfast greets you each day - a day of pleasure from Antiques to the Zoo and everything in between. Enjoy swimming, surfing, sunbathing, fishing or bird watching. You can participate in fast-paced foot races or slow-paced walking tours. Another favorite past time is rocking on the veranda while sipping an afternoon cup of tea and watching the old time horse and carriages as they clip clop by. Whatever you are looking for...it's here in Historic Cape May. Part of Stockton Row, the most photographed section of Cape May.
