Nestled amid a grove of stately old cottonwoods and spruce, our
bed and breakfast inn began as an adobe home built over 150 years
ago. Situated on 7.5 acres on a rise overlooking Taos, the small home
grew into a beautiful hacienda with a rich and colorful history.
Throughout the century it evolved from a farmer's home to an artist's
estate and then to a guesthouse in the 1940's. Almost 50 years later
we rescued the building from deterioration and lovingly restored it
in the southwestern tradition. These days, probably not unlike in the
past, our guests can be found on warm summer afternoons relaxing with
a book in the cool shade under the large veranda, or, come evening,
experiencing a fiery Taos sunset from our gardens. Quiet spots and
enchanting views are easy to find on the spacious grounds.
In the winter months you'll find skiers warming their
spirits by the fire, as they share tales of terrifying tumbles and
turns down the slopes of Taos Ski Valley. And if the fireplaces and
charm aren't enough to thaw the chill, there's always the hot tub
under the starry skies to soothe those aching bones. Taos is indeed a
virtual outdoor sports paradies. Being outdoor enthusiasts ourselves,
we have a firsthand knowledge and experience of this area and much of
northern New Mexico. As a matter of fact, if we weren't innkeepers,
we'd probably be ski bums!
In our breakfast room, adorned with antiques, you'll find our guests
not only enjoying the spectacular views across the Taos Valley, but
also nourishing themselves with home-baked breads, muffins and
granold (thank you, Grandma!), fresh fruit, hot organic cereals,
juices and delicious fresh-roasted coffee. We describe our breakfast
buffet as "on the healthy side of the Continental."
All eight of our rooms have outdoor entrances, private baths with
Mexican hand-painted tiles and fresh cut flowers. A few have large
skylights, while others have kiva fireplaces. All have the spice of
the Southwest. So bring your bluejeans and jokes...leave your necktie
and stress behind as you get caught up in the comfort and laughter
behind our adobe walls. We warmly invite you to come and experience
the enchantment of northern New Mexico from our special Taos
hide-away.
