Inn is located in the National Register of Historic Places, King William
Historic Dictrict, and individually listed as an exceptional City of
San Antonio Historic Landmark. It was built in 1886 by Albert Beckmann
for his bride, Marie Dorothea,
daughter of the Guenther Flour Mill family, on the mill grounds. Several
rooms and porches have been added since. The beautiful wrap-around porch
warmly welcomes guests to the main house and to the gracious experience
of Victorian hospitality in a relaxing atmosphere. The white wicker
furniture invites you to relax and enjoy your "welcome tea"
on our wonderful sun
porch.
Entering through the rare burl pine door, you stand on the intricately
designed wood mosaic floor imported from Paris, in a spacious living
room with 14-foot high ceilings and tall classic windows with beveled
glass inserts. The Victorian furniture completes the nostalgic decor
for our guests enjoyment. Arch shaped pocked doors with framed opaque
glass, open to the formal dining room, where breakfast is served. A
large multi-paned window looks out into the sun porch, which is filled
with white wicker furniture, flowers and plants.
A gourmet type breakfast with a breakfast dessert is served at our Inn,
and includes fresh ground coffee, specialty teas, fruit juice, a main
entree, fresh fruit and coffeecake. Guest rooms feature private baths,
air conditioning, 14-foot high ceilings with fans, tall ornately carved
queen-sized antique Victorian beds, and colorful floral furnishings.
The Carriage House is adjacent to the main house, and features shuttered
windows with flower-filled boxes. The patio and gardens complete a picturesque
view of our Bed and Breakfast.
