n its third century on Galveston Island, this beautiful 1887 Queen Anne Victorian along with a turret tower, gingerbread trim, double verandah, magnificent winding staircase made of teak, walnut, and curly pine. Enhanced by stained glass windows and cobalt blue transoms. The history, accommodations, superb breakfasts, services, and hospitality has earned this nineteenth century inn an international reputation for "Best Breakfast Conversation" and "Best in the USA" The home, by Alfred Muller a renowned architect from Germany, was designed for Howard Carnes the cashier of the Morgan's Louisiana and Texas Railroad and Steamship Company. The second owner, Paul Shean was a coppersmith from Ireland, hence the name Coppersmith Inn Bed & Breakfast.

The Carriage House -- Our most popular for Honeymoons and Anniversaries. A large L-shaped suite, private staircase entrance from the garden deck. A whirlpool tub for two, vaulted timbered ceiling, king size bed, in-room Cable TV, VCR and CD player. Private Bathroom. Sitting area with a coffee maker and small refrigerator, a sofa that makes into a queen size bed and two chairs for guests. The whirlpool is located in the corner of the "L". Enjoy your cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate sitting on the covered porch overlooking the back garden. For your comfort the room has central air and heat. $158 to $175 per night double occupancy, $25 for each additional adult.

Clara's Country Cottage -- A private cottage nestled in our lush back garden. This was the original kitchen to the main house, and now has a king size bed, and a double bed loft, private bath with an antique claw foot tub with four shower heads, and a separate sitting room with coffee maker and small refrigerator. Comes with antiques, large windows, high ceiling, and in-room Cable TV, VCR, and CD player. Children are welcome in the cottage. Central air and heat for your comfort. $144 to $160 per night double occupancy, $15 for each additional child and $25 for each additional adult.

Victoria's Room -- The lady of the house's favorite room. Splendid French turn-of-the-century nickel-plated over brass queen-size bed. Neoclassical fireplace faux painted in white marble and stenciled walls. Private bath, antique sink and claw foot tub. Lovely verandah with wicker furniture overlooking the front garden, entered through large walk through windows. Sit on the verandah in the evening with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and listen to the waves breaking on the beach just blocks away. Many anniversaries have been spent in this lovely room. $122 to $135 per night double occupancy.

Jasmine's Garden Room -- A large room preferred by the men and loved by the ladies, with Baroque Plum walls accented with gold ceiling trim. Large bay windows, beautiful burl and wood grain faux finishing, covered in lace curtains overlooking the side garden. King size iron bed with a fluffy down pad, comfortable decorator couch, antique armoire with beveled mirrors. Private bath with gold accessories. $122 to $135 per night double occupancy.

Heather's Rose Room -- A gentle and elegant room with heirloom antiques from the 1870's, Rose garlands stenciled around the room. East Lake high-back queen size bed so comfortable people find it hard to get up. Art Nouveau armoire, large bay windows. Private bath with silver accessories. $113 - $125 per night double occupancy.

Directions -- The Coppersmith Inn is located in the Lost Bayou Historic District within a few minutes' drive or walk to most of the major tourist attractions. From Houston, take I-45 South to Galveston. I-45 becomes Broadway, a six-lane avenue with Palm trees and Oleanders in the median. The first stoplight will be 59th street. Continue on about 3 miles to 19th street. Turn right (South). Go three blocks to Avenue M. Turn right again (West), we are the third house on the right, a 2 story yellow Queen Anne style Victorian house with green shutters and a white picket fence. Welcome!

HONEYMOON OR ANNIVERSARY

You are invited to stay at our Inn for a most romantic and unforgettable stay. The following is a suggestion for your special night. You can have it all or any part you want.

1. For the Honeymooners, full country breakfast brought to your room on the first morning.

2. For Both, Dinner in the evening on your own at one of Galveston's many fine restaurants. Casual attire is the norm in Galveston, however you can be dressed up in the finer restaurants. (We can make your reservation if they take one. Some do not)

3. When you return from dinner, take a one-hour narrated carriage ride around the Strand and East End Historic districts. They will bring the carriage to the Coppersmith Inn, pick you up and return you. The cost paid directly to the Carriage Driver is $75. A tip is appropriate. We will make the reservation for you.

4. When you return to your room from the carriage ride, soft romantic music will be playing. The room, lighted with gently flickering voltives candles, a silver tray with chocolate dipped strawberries, and assorted chocolates, a chilled bottle of champagne or sparkling drink, and a long stemmed Copper Rose engraved with your wedding or anniversary date. This fourth item we call, our "In Love Package" and it is $55.

WEDDINGS AT THE COPPERSMITH INN

The Coppersmith Inn provides you a romantic and economical alternative for your wedding. At least one member of the wedding party must have a two-night room reservation. We make available the parlor, dining room, and garden for a fee, and you provide all the wedding necessities. We are able to accommodate a single couple or a party up to 25 reasonably comfortable. The cost to use the Coppersmith Inn facilities is: for a single couple in the parlor or garden, there is no charge; a group up to 25 for a one-hour stand-up wedding in the parlor and dining room or garden, $100.00; a group up to 25 for a two-hour stand-up wedding and reception (plus an additional one-hour to set up and clean up) in the parlor and dining room or garden $200.00; The Coppersmith Inn is only providing the facilities, all other needs preacher, photographer, caterer, flowers, and utensils must be supplied by you. You can caterer it yourself if you would like, or we can provide a list of services that you can use. Catered luncheon or dinner for a group of 10 in our dining room, $300.00 for use of the dining room and kitchen. The food would have to be provided by a professional caterer and they would have the use of the kitchen to prepare the food. They would need to bring their own stove, dishes, glasses, and utensils.

WEDDING PICTURES

The Coppersmith Inn is an outstanding location for romantic wedding pictures. With semi tropical grounds for outdoor shots, an 1887 Victorian home, with gingerbread trim, double verandah, turret tower, spectacular winding staircase of teak, walnut and curly pine highlighted by stained glass and ornate newel post. There are large windows with original glass, and exquisite heirloom antiques. Guests staying at the Coppersmith Inn would have free access to their room, the parlor, staircase, and grounds for their pictures. Non-guests would have a fee of $100.00 per hour with a minimum of one-hour for access to one room to dress, and to photograph, using the parlor, staircase and the grounds.
