uilt
in 1886 by businessman Theodore Ohmstede, this beautiful Victorian home
is located in Galveston's East End Historic District. Previously serving
as a private residence, then as a boarding
house, the home was purchased in 1995 by four ladies committed to the
traveler's enjoyment. The home has been lovingly restored and furnished
with antiques and fine furniture to offer a blend of Victorian and traditional
elegance.
Visitors can walk
the two blocks to the: Historic Strand Shopping District, theater at
the Grand Opera House, a visit to Artist Gallery
Row, or choose one
of the many fine restaurants for Galveston's famous seafood cuisine.
Also, within one block of the Inn is the Trolley Station which offers
a quick trip to the beach or a tour of the Island. Galveston Island's
many attractions are within easy access of The Inn of 1816 Postoffice.
We invite you to
come and enjoy our home, walk in our beautiful gardens, relax in the
gulf breezes on one of our terrace porches, and allow us to make your
special vacation retreat a memorable experience.
