Built in 1892, the house still bears the name of its original owner, Dr. Jabez Cain, on the carriage stone out front. The beautifully restored Royal Swan Bed and Breakfast boasts a bridal balcony, wood burning fireplaces, crystal chandeliers and spectacular stained glass windows.
The
Royal Swan is the perfect setting to enjoy romance and relaxation and recapture
the Victorian splendor of a bygone era. Each of the antique furnished guest
rooms has its own unique feature, from wicker-filled verandas, to claw-footed
tubs with fine milled soap and scented bath oil. Each also offers a queen size
bed, private bath, color cable TV, and telephone with dataport. Our five guestrooms
include:
Texas Rose Room -- Decorated in soft yellows and rose, it's as welcoming as that famous Texas hospitality! $100 to $135
Crystal Room -- A graceful room featuring a carved mahogany poster bed, Victorian love seat, handsome wardrobe, and a crystal chandelier in the adjoining bath. $120 to $140
Emerald Room -- This elegant room with its grand mahogany rice poster bed, fireplace, and claw-footed bathtub opens onto a lovely veranda. $120 to $140
Veranda Suite -- Opening onto the wicker filled veranda, this soothing blue and white two room suite offers a private sitting room and can accommodate three guests. $130 to $160
Garnet Room -- Looking for true privacy? An enchanting room with fireplace, a brass and pewter bed, large claw-footed tub, and a private entrance from the back deck, make this the perfect quiet getaway. $120 to $140
The aroma of freshly-ground hazelnut cream coffee fills the air as guests are treated to a savory breakfast, served in the sunny morning room or stately dining room.
A stroll down the River Walk, only two blocks away, leads to the exciting sites of downtown San Antonio -- the Alamo, Rivercenter Mall, La Villita, Market Square, the Alamodome and the best in dining and entertainment.
Those who prefer to ride may take the trolley which stops just one block from The Royal Swan. The trolley is an authentic reproduction of the streetcars that traveled San Antonio's streets at the turn of the century.
