Spend the day at Thomas Jefferson's beloved Monticello. Spend the night with us.

ocated minutes from Monticello, downtown Charlottesville and the University of Virginia, the Inn at Monticello embodies the charm and graciousness of an elegant Bed and Breakfast Country Inn. Located at the foot of Monticello mountain, the inn offers an atmosphere of comfort and relaxation. Beautiful accommodations and gracious gourmet breakfasts await.

A charming country manor house built in the mid-1800's, the Inn at Monticello sits cradled in the valley at the foot of Thomas Jefferson's own Monticello Mountain. We look out across the sweep of manicured lawn toward the beauty of the mountains, and listen to the peaceful sounds of birds and our own babbling brook. Inside, we offer five bedrooms, each with it's own private bath. Our rooms are uniquely decorated with period antiques and fine reproductions. All are coordinated with the elegance and comforts befitting a romantic country inn.

Our guests find the Inn at Monticello a quiet place to relax and enjoy a day or two away from their fast paced lives. In the winter the fireplaces offer soothing places to read a book, relax with tea or coffee, or just unwind. The summer finds most guests on the porch, relaxed in a rocking chair enjoying a cool drink while rocking away the cares of the day. Some enjoy a walk to picturesque Willow Lake adjacent to the Inn, or a game of croquet or bocce. Enjoy a taste of a featured Virginia wine as you peruse the collection of menus from the many outstanding restaurants in the Charlottesville area. In short, make yourself at home. As a guest at the inn the feeling of being at home and the feeling of being comfortable reaches out to you with every step.

Each guest room is decorated with fine antiques and has its own private bath. During the winter months, cuddle into the soft down pillows and comforters. During the summer months the Inn is fully air conditioned.

  • The Jefferson room is on the first floor, and has a queen canopy bed, and large bath. It overlooks the shade garden and the rolling front lawn. The Jefferson room is a tribute to Thomas Jefferson and has a sitting area with a small library of Jefferson and family memorabilia.
  • The Lilac room is on the first floor, has a tall queen canopy bed, and large full bath, and a private porch. The room is decorated in a relaxing periwinkle blue with a variety of fabrics which add to the romantic feeling of the room.
  • The Yellow room is on the second floor and is a cheerful room full of sunlight and the feeling of warmth even on a cold winter's day. The feather soft king size bed with floral accessories , the white balloon shades, and the warm color creates a beautiful romantic get-away. Twin beds are available in the yellow room upon request.
  • The Blue room is on the second floor, and is the original master bedroom complete with wood burning fireplace, four poster queen size bed and views of Willow Lake and the rolling front lawn. The room has the warmth and charm of early America. The colors of brick, blue and white add to the feeling of history associated with the surrounding area.
  • The Green room is on the second floor, it has an antique Victorian queen bed, and overlooks the front lawn and Carter's mountain across the way. The high carved headboard of the antique queen size bed with the matching bed set dates to the late 1800's.
