Wilson-Lee House
invites you to visit Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore of Virginia - "the
land that time forgot". Only 45 minutes away from the hustle and bustle
of Norfolk/Virginia Beach, you will be transported 50 years back in time. The
pace is deliciously slow and sunsets on the
Chesapeake
Bay are breathtaking. Come rock on our porch, ride our bicycle built for two
and let us arrange a romantic sunset sail, followed by a relaxing cookout on
our deck.
At the geographic center
of the Town of Cape Charles, Wilson-Lee House is an example of the finest architecture
of its time. Built in 1906, this Colonial Revival home is the work of Norfolk
architect, James W. Lee. A modified "four-square" house with four
rooms per floor, it has been restored to its original elegance and has been
configured to accommodate the needs of a late twentieth century bed & breakfast.
Six and 1/2 bathrooms were added for guest comfort for each of the six luxurious
bedrooms, and the butler's pantry was re-designed with the
guest
in mind. The grand foyer with its Ionic colonade is bright and especially welcoming.
Programs that take advantage of the unique offerings found on the Eastern Shore are available: birding (the Delmarva Peninsula is in the migratory flight path), whale watching, sailing, outdoor events and sunning -- the beach is just at the end of Tazewell Avenue. Wilson-Lee House provides beach chairs and towels. Pickup from the Cape Charles Marina will be provided for fishermen and sailors.
Innkeepers David Phillips and Leon Parham know what urban professionals look for and want in a retreat and they have created it in their B&B. They have cultivated high standards and Wilson-Lee House is the realization of them. Every guest benefits from this vision.
Wilson-Lee House is a member of Virginia's Eastern Shore Bed & Breakfast Association and was inspected and approved by the Bed & Breakfast Association of Virginia in 1996.
