The White House of Wilmington
A Vermont Cross-Country Inn

Wilmington, Vermont

The White House of Wilmington is a Victorian mansion that offers you elegant yet relaxed surroundings. Set on the crest of a high, rolling hill, and surrounded by towering hardwoods and formal flower gardens, it is readily obvious why the Boston Herald and New York Times selected it as "one of the ten most romantic places in the world." The Inn's 23 guest rooms, each with private bath, are beautifully furnished with period pieces complimentary to an exclusive New England country inn. Seven of the rooms are located in the adjacent guest house. Nine rooms have fireplaces, six rooms havebalconies or terraces and four rooms have private whirlpool baths. The Victorian brass and crystal light fixtures, beautiful woodwork, antiques, and even some the home's original wallpaper that was printed in France in 1912, give the feeling of turn-of-the -century grandeur.

Relax by the fire in the stately living room or enjoy the spectacular view from the patio lounge. The three intimate dining rooms continue the pronounced Victorian theme of the Inn, and are the perfect surroundings in which you will enjoy an evening of award-winning gourmet dining. The lower level of the Inn has been transformed into a refreshing and invigorating spa, which includes a whirlpool and sauna bath, and a small, heated pool.

The White House's southern Vermont location is ideal for enjoying the numerous four-season activities in the area. In addition to outstanding downhill skiing and snowboarding at nearby Mt. Snow, there is on premise a highly rated cross-country center. Also on the grounds is a 60 foot swimming pool which offers a refreshing retreat on a summer's day. The formal flower garden accents a heavily blossomed rose arbor and water fountain. Summer activities include swimming, fishing, and boating on Vermont's second largest lake. Golf is close by at Mt. Snow or Haystack. And for those who prefer to see the beauty of Vermont at high speeds, mountain bike trails are everywhere in Vermont.

The White House has been featured in Yankee Magazine and Country Decorating and shown on the Good Morning America & P.M. Magazine programs. The Mobil Travel Guide rated the Inn with three stars "Excellent" for both dining and lodging. The Boston Herald exclaims, "One of the ten most romantic places in the world." The New York Times holds, "In the Mt. Snow area, the White House is known for its superior accommodatons." With rave reviews, first-class accommodations, mouth-watering dishes, bountiful activities and quality service, it's no wonder why so many love to come back to the White House time and time again.
