House bed & breakfast inn is a century-old American Foursquare
Craftsman home that's been restored to reflect the history of this north
woods community.
You will discover three comfortable guest rooms, each with its own theme.
The Game Keeper's Room reflects the abundant wildlife in the area. The
Lotta Morgan Room is a tribute to the nineteenth century local entertainer,
immortalized in Edna Ferber's "Come and Get It," played by Frances Farmer
in the 1936 movie by Samuel Goldwyn. The Northern Exposure Room reflects
the abundant snow fall that has made this
area a winter recreation destination for a hundred years.
Guests are treated
to a hearty, home-cooked breakfast each morning (included in the room
rate). In our kitchen, we take avantage of our location in the dairy
state and the north woods to bring you exciting and tasty dishes, including
our signature dish, wild rice & cranberry pudding. We even make our
own jams and preserves from native cranberries, blueberries, apples,
pears, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries
for your enjoyment.
Adjacent to your
guest room is a library where you can place local and toll-free
calls (such as calling card calls) at no charge; watch more than 60
channels of cable TV, including premium channels; choose a book from
nearly 1,000 available; or just unwind and help yourself to a complimentary
soft drink.
Surounded by more
than a million acres of forests, 100 waterfalls, and the world's largest
fresh water lake, Anton-Walsh House can be your home base for exploring
nature. We're located close to four Alpine Ski hills, more than 200
km of Nordic ski trails, and from our back door you are connected to
more than 500 miles of well-groomed snowmobile trails. Autumn colors
rival those in New England. Our summers, with their warm days and cool
evenings, have been drawing visitors for 150 years, including notorious
Chicagoans like Al & Ralph Capone, Baby Face Nelson, and John Dillinger.
