Astor House is the only Bed & Breakfast in Green Bay. This
Victorian Home was built about 1888 and is on the National Register
of Historic Homes. The restoration of the home received the Mayor's
Award in 1994 and it has been featured in many television reports,
newspaper and magazine articles, and Bed & Breakfast guidebooks.
The Astor House is one of only three lodging places in Green Bay to
receive the 3-star rating from Mobil Travel.
The Astor House is located at the north entrance to the Astor Historic
Neighborhood, Green Bay's greatest concentration of late 19th and
early 20th Victorian homes. The Stick-Style house was built by local
attorney F. Adolph Watermolen. Major remodeling was done at the turn
of the century by the home's most famous resident, Dr. Julius J. Bellin,
M.D. Dr. Bellin was a prominent physician and surgeon in Green Bay
in the early 1900s. He founded Bellin Hospital and Bellin School of
Nursing. Through his work, Green Bay has become a major regional medical
center for Northeast Wisconsin.
Five distinctive rooms, all private with private baths, include cable television, a stereo system with CD player and tape deck, small refrigerator, VCR/DVD player, free Wi-Fi, telephone and room air-conditioning. Four of the rooms have gas fireplaces, four have double whirlpools in the rooms and three rooms have both. Off-street parking is no problem. Breakfast can be served in guest rooms, parlor or porch in season. Breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and includes two different kinds of homemade bakery, a fruit dish, coffee, tea, juice, and milk. The Astor House is a non-smoking building.
